Activities
The way to a healthy body, an active mind, and an engaged spirit is through exercise and mental stimulation.

Throughout the week, we hold a variety of events from games and exercises that encourage minor physical activity and social interaction, to moments that allow residents to relax and reflect, such as with meditation hour and movies.

Exercise
Every morning at 10 a.m., residents are invited to group exercise.  Individual attention is given to everyone involved to make sure no unnecessary strain or exertion happens.

Films
Three times a week, Hungarian and American films play in the TV room.  The TV room boasts a large screen TV and comfortable couches and chairs.

Games and Religious Activities
Throughout the week, Bingo, bean bag toss, bowling, board games, and other low-impact but entertaining events are scheduled in the activity room or the chapel.

Throughout the week, religious activities include services, Saturday Bible Study, and Bible Quiz games.

Social Engagements
We offer a number of parties and other social engagements to foster friendships and a developing sense of spirit and happiness among our residents.  We celebrate birthdays and hold weekly Ice Cream Socials, monthly tea parties for women and events just for men.

Visitation
At least three times a week, activities staff will make regular room visits.  These visits are designed to check up on each resident’s well-being, while at the same time allowing for time to catch up and discuss resident’s favorite subjects.

Beauty Parlor
Our in-house beauty parlor is open for men and women, normally Wednesday through Friday.  Micki Ladich, a professional beautician, cuts, sets, and colors resident’s hair and offers manicure services.  Beauty parlor services are additional, but nominal.

Reflection and Relaxation
Several times a week, Lorantffy Care Center residents are invited to participate in various exercises designed to relax their minds, body, and spirit.  Non-physical exercises such as listening to nature sounds and proceeding through a guided meditation hour, allow residents to relax.  These reflection and relaxation exercises prove to be particularly effective with residents that suffer from dementia, stroke, or other conditions that can cause agitation and frustration for the resident.
Independent (but Supervised) Activities

Library
Lorantffy Care Center boasts an on-site library filled with thousands of books in a number of languages encompassing all types of genres.  The library is located in a separate building just a short walk from the main building.  Residents are welcome to use the library any time they like.  All residents are supervised in their travel over and back.  Further, residents can read in the library or choose to bring books back to the main building and either read them in their room, in our light-filled chapel, or in the dining room.

Whirlpool
Located in one of our bathing suites, Lorantffy offers a single-person jet whirlpool bath.  All residents are supervised in getting in and out of the whirlpool.  Although it can be used for overall relaxation, the whirlpool is also used to mitigate or help skin and wound conditions or to soothe muscle or joint aches and pains.  The whirlpool can also be used for residents that are under Hospice care as it helps alleviate discomfort and helps soothe the mind.
