Fine Dining in the Lorantffy Dining Room
The dining room, located just inside the main entrance of the building, is a comfortable and relaxing room with an abundance of natural light and a soaring cathedral ceiling.   Artwork depicting Hungarian history adorns the walls and makes one feel as though they are enjoying meals in a residential dining room.

Three meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – are served daily.  Though most residents prefer to enjoy breakfast in their rooms, many still come down in the morning to start their day.  Two meal times are offered for lunch and dinner with about 45 residents at each sitting.

The room, though an open space, is divided between those residents that require assistance to eat and those that are able to do so themselves.  This selected segregation allows residents that are still independent to enjoy their meal with their friends while at the same time allows a generous nurse to resident ratio for assisting residents to eat.

Restorative Dining Program
Our Restorative Dining Program focuses on residents with specific needs while feeding themselves.

Some residents – particularly those suffering from dementia – are easily distracted by other conversations or activities going on around them while trying to eat.  These distractions make it difficult, if not impossible, for them to enjoy and finish a nutritious meal.   Other residents, such as those with arthritis or those that have suffered a stroke, can become agitated or frustrated while trying to eat in front of other residents.

Our nursing staff assists these specific-needs residents at meal time in a separate dining area located away from the dining room.  This quiet and low-bustle space allows residents with dementia to concentrate on their meal and allows residents that are able to feed themselves, but need a small amount of assistance, a discrete environment to do so.

Lorantffy Cuisine
Directed by a registered dietician, meals are prepared in a sleek and modern kitchen with strict attention to each resident’s dietary needs.  Every delicious multi-ethnic meal is made from scratch with the freshest vegetables, fruits and meats.  Such offerings include breakfast breads, eggs, and cereal for breakfast, hearty soups, baked chicken, Hungarian meatballs and stuffed peppers for lunch, and meatloaf, baked Hungarian sausage, veal paprikas, and fish sandwiches for dinner.  Desserts often include kolache, strudel, and pies.  The menu rotates weekly and substitutions can be made for each meal.  Additionally, Kosher meals can be provided upon request.

Visitor Dining
Visitors are welcome to join their loved ones for any meal.  And because we consider all visitors as guests to our “home” visitor meals are complimentary.
